Principia College Announces New College President  

Principia College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Meggan Madden as College President, following her outstanding service as Interim President. Dr. Madden previously served as Dean of Academics at Principia College from 2019–2025, advancing Principia’s academic vision during a period of transformation.    

Principia College Student Honored as Newman Civic Fellow

Campus Compact has named Kimbeley Peterson, a junior at Principia College, to the 2025-2026 cohort of Newman Civic Fellows. The national coalition selected student civic leaders from 38 states, as well as Washington, DC, and Mexico, for this prestigious yearlong program.

Dr. Meggan Madden Announced as Interim College President at Principia College

Principia College is pleased to announce Dr. Meggan Madden as Interim College President. Dr. Madden served as Dean of Academics at Principia College from 2019 to 2025. A distinguished academic leader, Dr. Madden brings more than 25 years of experience in higher education, with a focus on international education, student success, and academic excellence.

Dr. Johnson Receives Secretary of Energy’s Achievement Award

Many academics describe their sabbatical as rewarding. For Dr. Nicholas Johnson (C’04), Chair of the Sustainability Department, it was awarding as well. Johnson’s year-long sabbatical with the U.S. Department of Energy earned him the Secretary of Energy’s Achievement Award. Twice.

Principia College Retains Strong National Rating

Entering the 2023-24 school year, Principia College is holding steady as one of the country’s most esteemed liberal arts colleges. For the second year in a row, U.S. News and World Report has ranked Principia College in the top quadrant, at #51 overall. 

 Dr. Karen Eckert Named Finalist for Indianapolis Prize

Dr. Karen Eckert, founder and executive director of WIDECAST, and Principia College professor of sustainability and director of the Principia Center for Sustainability, is one of six finalists for the Indianapolis Prize. The Indianapolis Prize is the world’s leading conservation award—widely known as the “Nobel Prize of Conservation.”
