How To Get a Job
The Student Employment Office runs a central hiring site where every open position is posted with instructions on how to apply. Before you can start working, you'll need to complete a short pre-employment process (forms, application, resume — nothing wild). It's optional but smart to get this done before you arrive on campus. If you want to mail everything ahead of time, send it to:
Student Employment Office
Principia College
1 Maybeck Place
Elsah, IL 62028
All students interested in employment must go through a pre-employment process that includes filling out the following documents:
Employment Application
Fed W-4
IL W-4
I-9, w/ list of acceptable ID document
Student Employment Agreement
Direct Deposit enrollment form
(optional, but strongly recommended)
One important thing:
You'll need to bring original documents that prove your identity and work eligibility (think passport or driver's license + Social Security card). No copies or faxes — originals only. Without them, you legally can't work on campus, so don't sleep on this.
Questions? The Student Employment Office is here to help you find your footing and make the most of your time working on campus.
