Payment Methods
Payments can be made electronically with secure online access. Available online payment methods include:
Electronic bank transfer (ACH). There are no fees for paying by electronic ACH, and this is Principia’s preferred payment method. Just link your USA-based-bank checking or savings account on PrinBill.
Credit card. Credit card payments have a convenience fee of 3% for US cards or 4.25% for international issued cards ($3 minimum per transaction). Sometimes it's worth it for the convenience, but factor that into your budget.
Check. Make your checks payable to The Principia and mail them to:
The Principia, Attn: Cashier, 13201 Clayton Road, St. Louis, MO 63131-1002
Memo line information: Student Name, Student ID P01******
International Payments
Options for international payments include wire transfer, credit card, or checks payable in U.S. dollars. We've partnered with TransferMate so you can easily pay in your local currency within the PrinBill website. To pay using TransferMate, log into your PrinBill account, select “Make A Payment”, input a date and a payment amount, then under “Payment Method” choose TransferMate INTL from the dropdown menu, and follow prompts.
Note: TransferMate can't be used for automatic payment plans. You'll need to submit payments manually each month. If you enrolled in a Payment Plan and then decide to use TransferMate, you must unenroll and delete the payment plan before using TransferMate.
For more information about using TransferMate, please watch this video.
If you have questions about international payments please contact Billing Services, prinbill@principia.edu.
It’s important to remember that semester tuition and fees are payable on or before registration deadlines which change every semester. Your process is not complete until payment is made in full or a payment plan is scheduled. It is your responsibility to see that tuition and fees are paid even if the funds are provided by financial aid, scholarship, or other sources.
Monthly Installment Payment Plan
Our payment plan lets you split each semester into four monthly payments. There is no fee for the use of the installment plan.
How does it work?
Sign up between August 1st and 14th in the Fall or January 1st and 14th in the Spring.
The payment plan starts in August, with the first payment due by August 15. Each subsequent payment is due by the 15th of the month.
A late charge of 1% will automatically apply to accounts for installment payments not received by the due date.

Your account must be paid in full by the fourth date above in order to be allowed to choose your courses for the following semester.
Note: A monthly installment payment plan for a student’s account can be created only by the student or an authorized user; Principia does not have the ability to initiate this on their behalf.
Charges added to a student’s account will be included in the payment plan. If charges are incurred during the semester, they will be added to the plan and spread out over the remaining months of the payment plan.
