Before joining the faculty, Winnie Needham taught sixth grade for 17 years and was a school principal for three years. At Berkeley Hall School, she chaired the Intermediate (upper elementary) Department and founded and chaired the Character Education Committee.
"I discovered early in my life that I loved working with children of all ages. From babysitting to camp counseling to elementary school teaching, it was a natural step to work at the college level with those who want to explore a teaching career themselves."
