Allison Terry is a faculty member in Principia College’s Digital Media & Journalism Department, dedicated to creating an inclusive, student-centered classroom. She teaches courses in public relations and media studies, using real-world examples and clear communication to make learning engaging and relevant. Drawing on her professional background in journalism and digital media, she helps students connect theory to practice and develop the skills needed for today’s media landscape. Terry brings a background in study abroad programs, weaving intercultural learning into her courses to inspire global awareness, ethical practice, and thoughtful storytelling.

Allison Terry’s scholarly interests center on the intersection of media, culture, and global engagement. She explores how media shapes public understanding of social issues, with emphasis on public relations, journalism ethics, and intercultural communication. Her work integrates experiential learning to develop students’ global awareness and professional skills. She is also interested in the role of storytelling and digital media in fostering cross-cultural dialogue and civic engagement.

CONTRIBUTIONS TO FIELD

Allison Terry has contributed to journalism and digital media through producing in-depth, data-driven infographics for The Christian Science Monitor on complex social and policy issues and supporting investigative projects at American University’s Investigative Reporting Workshop. She has mentored emerging student journalists, fostering ethical and editorial excellence, and integrated global perspectives into media and public relations courses. Her work bridges traditional journalism with digital innovation, developing content strategies and optimizing engagement through SEO and social media, while promoting storytelling that deepens public understanding and cross-cultural dialogue.
