Dr. Andrew Parker came to Principia after several years as an applied research mathematician at the National Security Agency where he applied mathematical thinking and methods to solve technical problems encountered in the defense industry. At Principia he has taught a full spectrum of courses in mathematics, from college algebra through the calculus sequence to upper-level courses in numerical analysis, statistics, complex variables, topology, and abstract algebra. Dr. Parker has also taught seminar courses in special topics such as cryptography, fractals, and chaos.
Scholarly Interests
In collaboration with Principia College's Computer Science faculty Dr. Parker has been investigating certain mathematical tools and theories behind machine learning and artificial intelligence and incorporating some of the lessons learned into Principia's mathematics curriculum.
