"My teaching is grounded in a desire to help students continue learning and developing in critical thinking and in their understanding of social justice."

Stephanie Lovseth joined the Educational Studies Department as an instructor in 2018. She also serves as director for Study Abroad. In that capacity, she oversees strategic and operational planning for Principia education abroad activities, develops partnerships and policies, collaborates with faculty and staff on curriculum integration, and supports other Principia international education efforts. She also chairs the Principia Abroad Advisory Committee. Beginning in 2010, when Lovseth joined the staff at the College, she served as the study abroad program manager and as a residential counselor for study abroad programs to New Zealand, Nepal, and India. Prior to coming to Principia, she directed the 100 Elk Outdoor Center, in Colorado. Lovseth has also studied in India, Nepal, and Vietnam.

Scholarly Interests

Lovseth brings scholarly expertise and background in outdoor education theory and practice; international and comparative education, access, equity, and quality assurance in higher education; and educational leadership. One of her key goals is multidimensional engagement with students, colleagues, and community surrounding international education and educational studies theory and practice.

Contributions to Field

Stephanie Lovseth is a certified Education Abroad Professional as well as a certified reviewer for The Forum on Education Abroad’s Quality Improvement Program (QUIP) evaluation process.
