PRINCIPIA COLLEGE MEDIATION TEAM WINS FIRST PLACE FOR TEAM ADVOCACY IN 15TH ANNUAL MAHARISHI INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY “PEACEMAKER” TOURNAMENT.
Elsah, IL: Principia College, returning champions of the collegiate mediation scene, started the year on a high note with a series of wins at the 15th Annual Maharishi International University “Peacemaker” Tournament in Iowa. Led by team co-captain Chris Ajuoga, the young team secured first place in Team Mediation and Team Advocacy. In addition to these exciting wins, each member received trophies in recognition of individual efforts. Freshman Shaun Chore and Sophomore Sebastian Kyllonen earned third and second place in Individual Advocacy, while Ajuoga secured second place in Individual Mediation.
"Principia has always historically been the smallest college at these competitions,” said Mediation Team Advisor, Jeff Steele. “Over the years, we've built a reputation that Principia is a force to be reckoned with, and I think that's really cool. A coach from another school once said "'Principia College, it's like the mouse that roared.'"
This performance qualifies the team to compete at the International Intercollegiate (Undergraduate) Mediation Championship Tournament held at Brenau University, Gainesville, GA November 8–11, 2023.
