Principia College: Empowering Athletes to Reach New Heights

Women’s Basketball Makes History

The SLIAC conference championship women’s basketball trophy has a new home: in the trophy case at Principia College. This is the first time in College history that any Principia basketball team has claimed this championship. Their accomplishment represents more than just a title. It showcases the grit, perseverance, and determination of the players, their coaching staff, and Principia’s support of their athletic teams.

Head Coach and Assistant Athletic Director Ramiro Dominguez said the team’s journey was both historic and intentional: “We focus on overcoming the barriers in front of us. Our goal is to get one percent better every single day, and our student-athletes work hard at that, which shows up in the win column and our students’ individual growth.”

Track and Field Sets Records and Breaks Barriers

Across the board, Principia’s Track and Field Team has blazed a trail across the SLIAC Conference, leaving long-standing milestones in the rear-view mirror.

Record-breaking—or record-shattering—performances were notched by several athletes this year. Sana Udoekong (US’24, C’28) earned both the SLIAC Indoor Track Athlete and Indoor Track Freshman of the Year awards. Udoekong clocked wins in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dash at the conference championships, while upending an all-time College record with her 200-meter race earlier in the season. Nana Koranteng (C’26) extended his school record in the indoor triple jump to a 13th place finish at the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships, and Hannah Myers (C’26) captured the long jump and triple jump records, helping to solidify Principia’s place in track and field history.

Baseball and Softball on the Rise

Men’s baseball has been reinvigorated with a roster that has grown to 29 players. The young team has cultivated an impressive pitching staff and continues to take to the field with grit and determination, laying the groundwork for great success.

Meanwhile, women’s softball is on a roll with their first win since re-entering Division III play. With several women’s basketball players rejoining the team after their extended season, the women are set to dig in and take on the conference with confidence.

Rugby and Tennis Gear up for Successful Seasons

Our winning Rugby sevens team aims to qualify for Nationals as they launch their Spring season with a 3-1 record. Tennis is off to an exciting start, with the Men’s team achieving an impressive 5-1 record, while the younger Women’s team is showing steady progress as they grow into a successful future. Success On and Off the Field

In addition to success in individual sports, 14 College athletes were awarded the SLIAC All-Academic Team honors, reserved for scholars with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. View a list of our outstanding scholar-athletes.

As success stories continue to unfold on the courts, tracks, fields— and classrooms— of Principia College, it’s clear that this is a place where athletes come to thrive, not only in their chosen sport, but into their futures. Coach Dominguez summed it up perfectly, saying, “If you're an unbelievable person and a great student, and you want to be a part of an incredible community, then this is where you want to be.”
