Principia College has named Ramiro Dominguez as its new Athletics Director, following his exemplary service as Interim Athletics Director and his outstanding tenure as Head Coach of the Principia women’s basketball team. Under his leadership, the Panthers made history in 2025, winning the program’s first-ever St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Championship in the 2025 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Tournament.
In his new role, Dominguez will oversee all administrative and managerial aspects of the Principia College Athletics Department. He brings extensive experience in program building, facility development, and coaching leadership to the position. During his time as Interim Athletics Director at Principia College, Dominguez demonstrated strategic leadership and a collaborative spirit that earned high praise from across the Principia community. He worked closely with Admissions, faculty, and Advancement to align athletic priorities with institutional goals, and he consistently modeled Principia’s core values in his approach to team and program development.
“Ramiro is a passionate, visionary leader who understands that sport is about developing character, leadership, and lifelong resilience,” said Principia College President Dr. Meggan Madden. “His proven success and heartfelt dedication to student growth will strengthen the culture of Principia Athletics and inspire our entire community.”
A nationally recognized coach and educator, Dominguez brings more than three decades of experience developing championship programs and mentoring student-athletes. He has led the Players First Basketball Organization for 32 years, guiding its 16U and 17U teams to national titles at AAU, Hardwood, BCI, Real Deal on the Hill, and more than 250 other tournaments. He was named 2025 Division III Women's Coach of the Year by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association and won SLIAC Coach of the Year in 2023. His career reflects a deep commitment to excellence and the transformative power of athletics.
In addition to his collegiate coaching and leadership achievements, Dominguez has served as a National Shooting Coach, conducting camps and clinics across 47 states over the past 28 years. He also serves as Director of Operations for NEXT Camp and EGT Live, where he continues to influence and develop future generations of athletes and coaches.
Dominguez holds a BA in Special Education from the University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL) and is a member of both the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). He is pursuing a master's degree in sports administration from Concordia University, Nebraska, with plans to graduate in spring 2026. His professional and personal life are guided by his belief that sports serve as a classroom for life.
“I’m honored to step into this role and help our student-athletes grow as competitors, scholars, and leaders,” said Dominguez. “My goal is to create a vibrant and supportive athletic experience where every program reaches its full potential. I believe in leading with an open heart—listening first, valuing every perspective, and building strong connections across campus. Principia’s love, faith, and sense of community are what make it so special, and I’m excited to build on that foundation to inspire pride and excellence throughout Principia Athletics.”
Dominguez’s life and career embody his philosophy that athletic success and personal development go hand in hand. Under Dominguez’s leadership, Principia Athletics is poised to build on a foundation of teamwork, discipline, and character, fostering a community where every student-athlete can reach their highest potential both on and off the field.
