The College swim team made a splash this winter with the Paul Clifford Classic, a new swim invitational honoring Coach Clifford, who reigned as Principia’s swim coach from 1970–1983. The new meet honors the “Most Improved” swimmer or diver from each team, whom Coach Clifford had often recognized after his own meets in a letter to his team. Clifford, an early adopter of applying fluid dynamics to improve swim technique, still holds the coaching record for most men’s team wins throughout his career.
