For Fall 2020, Colleen Wampole is rejoining Principia College’s Studio Art department for the second time as visiting faculty. She most often shows her work in northern California, which is where she lives and has her studio.

Scholarly Interests

  • complicating portraiture
  • art as biased documentation
  • links between art history and pop culture

Contributions to Your Field

Some recent shows that included my artwork:

  • "Master Remix" at the Chico Art Center, CA
  • "Map it out" at the Museum of Northern California Art
  • "Portraiture Revolution" at the Chico Art Center, CA
  • "Persistence" at the Museum of Northern California Art

What led you to teaching?

It’s as simple as a desire to be useful. There is nothing quite like repurposing hard-won lessons from my artistic blunders (and successes) to smooth the way for others.

What are your hobbies?

My hobbies include reading fiction, comics, cooking, and trying to keep my succulents alive. Someday I will bake a perfect croissant.
