We welcome transfer students to our community every semester and look forward to connecting with you. We’re glad you’re considering Principia.
Since you’ve already completed some undergraduate work, you’re familiar with the demands of college and probably have a good idea what you want from your next school. We value that perspective and hope we can help you achieve your goals.
If you’re concerned about getting used to a new place and making new friends, that goes pretty smoothly here. Classes are small, and professors make an effort to get to know you. You’ll also be encouraged to dive into house activities, athletics, student government, student clubs, and more.
As you think about what’s working—and not working—in your current college experience, please feel free to get in touch. We’d love to help you explore how Principia can meet your needs. To get the conversation started, contact the admissions counselor for your area, or email Mitch Stock, Admissions Counselor Manager.
We look forward to getting to know you!
Transferring Credits
We’ll transfer as much credit as possible for the work you’ve already completed. The specifics are different for each student, so we won’t know for sure until we see your transcript. Generally, though, courses taken at other fully accredited colleges and universities are accepted for credit provided they parallel courses available at Principia and were completed with a grade of C– or higher. You can contact the Registrar’s Office to determine exactly what transfer credits would be accepted.
Application Process
As a transfer student, you can start classes at the beginning of fall or spring semester, but we welcome your application anytime.

*Due to the suspension of the SAT/ACT standardized tests from March through August of 2020 (due to COVID-19), and the potential impact on applicants, the Admissions Committee is currently offering an holistic assessment exam for applicants as an alternative to the SAT/ACT. The holistic assessment is currently being offered to applicants applying for Spring and Fall of 2022 – please contact Nicole Gervais, Interim Director of Admissions & Recruiting, for more information.
