Engaging Community with Rev. Traci Blackmon
Rev. Traci Blackmon was our second speaker in this summer's Race and Faith series at Principia. She was our guest on Friday, July 17 at 12:00 central time.
Rev. Blackmon is the Associate General Minister of Justice & Local Church Ministries for The United Church of Christ (UCC) and the first woman pastor of Christ the King UCC in Florissant, MO. She started her career as a medical nurse, before receiving the call to ministry. As pastor, Rev. Blackmon has led the church in an expanded understanding of church as a sacred launching pad of community engagement and change. She has spearheaded many dynamic initiatives in the community, for which she has received national and international recognition – both in terms of awards, and also in terms of service on influential commissions and boards. Most recently, she has been active in the national movement Repairers of the Breach, which is calling for a moral revival in the US.
Rev. Blackmon currently resides in both St. Louis, MO and Cleveland, OH and was named 2017 Citizen of the Year by The St. Louis American and as one of St. Louis' 100 most influential voices. Rev. Blackmon is the proud mother of three adult children: Kortni Devon, Harold II, and Tyler Wayne Blackmon.
