Fall Orientation: Friday, August 19, 2016
New students must arrive on campus by 3 p.m.
You're about to embark on a great adventure filled with new experiences, challenges, and growth. During Orientation, you will move into your house, attend house meetings, and learn more about Principia—our history, Christian Science foundation, and focus on character unfoldment. You'll also have plenty of free time to get settled, meet other students, and have fun at the games, picnic, and parties we have planned!
We look forward to partnering with each and every one of you in making this educational experience a rich and rewarding one. We are expecting progress each day as we practice living and growing in this unique environment.
It's terrific to have you joining our community of practice here at Principia! We hope you feel right at home.
About New Student Orientation
The New Student Orientation program provides all new students with a unique experience—one where you can explore and become part of a supportive community of practice and take part in a higher degree of opportunity, understanding, friendship, practice, and success: an education without limits. You will learn more about Christian Science, character education, and Principia itself—its purpose and the purpose of each student here. You will also learn about the campus community, including its standards, resources, and facilities.
New Student Orientation is required for all new students. If you have a conflict that prevents you from attending the entire orientation, approval from Director of Admissions Tami Gavaletz is needed. She can be reached at 618.374.5187. Students cannot arrive earlier than their designated arrival date.
During the week, students will also …
- Receive Principia ID cards, take campus tours, and move into houses
- Attend informational meetings about meal plans, student employment, billing, financial aid, and more
- Meet professors at the Academic Fair and learn more about our academic programs
- Meet with the Academic and Career Advising Office
- Participate in various activities to help become acquainted with the College community
Don’t miss New Parent Orientation, held August 19–21, 2016. Arrival begins on Friday, August 19, at 9 a.m., and NPO weekend ends on Sunday, August 21, at 2 p.m. Registration for NPO and on-campus housing is required and begins May 27.
Get acquainted with our campus. Meet our professors. Hear from the College president. Visit with other new students and their families, and get answers to your questions.
Of course, there’ll be work to do, too. You’ll want to help your student settle into housing and set up the room. There will even be time to run to Target or Walmart for last-minute supplies.
For the most part, though, this is a weekend to get a feel for the place your student will soon call “home.” View the New Parent Orientation (NPO) schedule.
Register for NPO.
