Thefts of and Damages to Principia Property

Theft

All thefts of Principia property, whether of money or objects, should be immediately reported to Campus Security and a written account of what was observed sent to the Workplace Safety office.

Campus Security will follow up on all stolen objects to see if they can be retrieved. If not, Principia's General Liability insurance will cover the replacement cost of such objects through the Workplace Safety office. If students are thought to be involved, Student Life will be notified and brought into any investigation.

Money is reimbursable only if it is taken from a locked area.

Damages

Damages to Principia property should be immediately reported to Campus Security and a written account of what was observed or what occurred sent to the Workplace Safety office. Investigation will be made by both offices to determine the cause, identify any safety issues that may need to be addressed, and begin any insurance process that may be appropriate.

If damages involve a fleet vehicle and another vehicle, a police report must be obtained (see the instructions on the fleet vehicle visor). An accident form from the Workplace Safety or Campus Security office must be filled out and submitted to Workplace Safety whether or not another vehicle is involved.

If you have any questions, please call Campus Security at 5473 or Workplace Safety at 5474.
