Space heaters are wonderful inventions for spaces that can't be kept comfortably warm for us to work in. As some of you may be aware, Principia's policy is as follows:
- Space heaters in general are not allowed. If you are having problems with the temperature in your work area, please submit a TMA (work order) to Facilities to have them assess the situation to see if it can be altered.
- If your work area cannot be made warmer using the current heating system, Facilities may provide a safety approved and appropriate space heater for you to use.
- If it is necessary for you to bring a space heater from home, it must be approved by Facilities for use to be sure the building's electrical system can handle it and that the heater is safe to use.
- In the event you are already using a space heater brought from home, we would appreciate it if you would take it to the Facilities Service Desk on the St. Louis campus, or call x5055 at Facilities on the Elsah campus and leave your name and where the heater can be located. Someone from Facilities will come to your office and check it out for you.
