William Miller's areas of expertise are law, sociology, and conflict resolution. In addition, he serves as faculty advisor to the Black Student Union and Amnesty International group. Along with his classes at Principia, Miller teaches graduate courses on social justice and human diversity at the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis, and he teaches sociology at Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey, Illinois.

Miller has presented papers at conferences and workshops on “race,” gender, social justice, and human rights for the National Organization of Women (Alton Chapter) and the International Sociological Association in Athens, Greece. He was also a guest on The Mother Church’s Time4Thinkers LIVE Internet radio program “Inspired Social Justice.”
