Affording Principia as an International Student
Principia seeks to make a college education accessible to all admitted students – and we are committed to making the financial piece of that investment as affordable for you as possible.
Financial Aid
Principia tailors our aid packages to the needs and abilities of each family. Most international students receive some kind of financial aid, with an average package of $29,065 per year in the form of grants which do not need to be repaid.
The admissions staff will email you the international financial aid application when Principia receives your admissions application.
The financial aid office really wants to help you succeed, so be sure to ask for an international financial aid application form after you complete your financial aid application.

Scholarships
The scholarship program at Principia welcomes all degree-seeking prospective students, domestic and international, regardless of national and ethnic origin or citizenship. Scholarships are based on very strong grades and a high score on the SAT. When you complete your application for admission, you will automatically be considered for academic scholarships.

Your Contribution
Since Principia aid does not cover 100 percent of College costs, it is expected that you will come to Principia with enough funds to cover whatever remains after financial aid has been applied. Sometimes students work and save money before coming to Principia. Sometimes family members contribute money to support students’ education.
Student Employment
Many students find that work during each semester and during the summer academic vacation are vital to help them pay for expenses. Part-time jobs are available to students to help offset expenses other than tuition. Principia also aims to prepare students for future jobs with practical work experiences on campus that help develop good work habits and the ability to balance multiple needs. Some of the types of jobs you could find on campus include Admissions Student Ambassador, Athletics Facilities Attendant, Business Office Assistant, Campus Social Event Staff, Dining Services Cashier, Science Lab Assistant, Language Tutor, Swimming Lifeguard, Dormitory Resident Assistant, Teaching Assistant, and Writing Tutor.
