Dr. Roberts has been a member of the faculty in the Political Science Department at Principia College since 1997. His expertise is in the subfields of the American Presidency and Congress. He holds a PhD in political science from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and a MA in government from the University of Virginia. Dr. Roberts has co-authored an article in The Book of the States, the leading reference source on state government, and presented professional papers at annual meetings of the American Political Science Association, Midwest Political Science Association, and Southern Political Science Association. His research has focused on the topics of presidential communication, presidential approval, and presidential elections. He has also presented papers on experiential and project-centered learning activities utilized in courses he has taught at Principia College. Dr. Roberts currently serves as the Division Head for the Social Sciences Unit and Chair of the Angie W. Cox School of Government. He has also served as the institution’s Faculty Athletics Representative to the NCAA for the past nine years.
