Dr. McCurties started teaching at Principia in 2009. Prior to working at Principia, Elise was a graduate student at Michigan State University where she served as an instructor of American history. While at Michigan State, Elise won history department awards for her teaching excellence and from the Jewish studies program for her course on American Jewish History. As a graduate student, she presented her dissertation chapters at several conferences, published a book review, and was invited to join the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. During her first two years at Principia, Elise wrote her dissertation and successfully defended in 2011. She currently teaches courses on American history and Latin American history.
