Dr. Hinthorne has been a member of the faculty since fall quarter, 1994. Before joining the faculty, he spent 16 years teaching at Palomar Community College in California and seven years at Central Washington University. His special areas of interest in mathematics include math history, geometry, combinatorics, algebra, analysis, and math education. He published an extensive guide on math and music for elementary and secondary teachers in Washington state. He has crafted textbooks for a liberal arts general education course, elementary education teachers, and is currently writing a text for a new math required course, Mathematical Proofs.  He continues to be active in regional and national mathematics organizations.
