This program for international students combines a literature class and a photography class in an exploration of the theme: journeys. Whether we’re talking about actual travel across the globe or movement in thought, everyone experiences journeys in their lives. Journeys take us to new places. Journeys even change us. We will read stories and look at photographs that tell us about other people’s journeys. And we will write stories and take photographs to better understand our own experiences with journeys, place, and change.
One highlight of the program is that we will study immigration, looking at the experiences of people who leave one place and culture for another Field trips into St. Louis will help us get to know American culture through class assignments and social activities. This program is designed to help new international students understand the fundamental expectations of American academics.
