Once you declare your major, you’ll begin working with an academic advisor in that department, who will help you fine tune and implement your long-range educational plan.
Here are some of the other ways the ACA staff supports students throughout their college experience:
-
Declaring a Major—assistance selecting from our many majors and minors or designing a special major tailored specifically for you
-
Academic Planning—completion of a comprehensive educational plan, including courses, extracurricular activities, personal goals, and more
-
Internship Program—help arranging on-the-job, pre-professional work experiences that may let you earn academic credit while working full time
-
Externship Program—a three-to-five-day job “shadowing” program that takes you behind the scenes of businesses, non-profits, and other internship and career opportunities
-
Workshops—hands-on sessions where you learn the ins and outs of writing resumes and cover letters, conducting job and internship searches, strategic networking, preparing for graduate school entrance exams, and more
-
Transition Coordination Services—help arranging for time away from Prin, and timely advising and registration assitance as you come back and resume your studies
-
Resource Library—extensive print and electronic resources for self-discovery, academic planning, internship searches, graduate school research, and career planning
