Getting Started

Working closely with your academic advisor, you'll be helped as you evaluate your strengths and interests, consider various academic majors, and select your courses.

Here are a few of the other ways ACA staff members help students get off to a good start:

  • First Year Student Advising—assistance selecting and registering for FYE classes, choosing courses to meet general education requirements, and developing a long-range academic and career plan
  • Self-Discovery/Assessment—evaluation of personal strengths and interests followed by in-depth discussion of the results as they relate to course planning and possible careers
  • Workshops and One-on-One Assistance—assistance writing resumes and cover letters, researching internship and job possibilities, and preparing for interviews
  • Major/Career Exploration—tools and resources for investigating the many options for majors and minors, including discussion of special majors
