Sally Abouchar (C’20)

ECONOMICS, BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
Investment Banking Analyst, Deutsche Bank

Sally knew she wanted to go into finance early on, so she designed her own business administration major with a concentration in finance. She was impressed by how much effort and time everyone at Principia dedicated to her success, helping her build out the specialized courses she wanted to take.

“Everyone went all the way for me. I fully reaped the benefits of a Principia education, which I completely appreciate.”

Sally credits her advisor for spotting good opportunities, such as the London School of Economics Summer School program, which she attended with the financial support she received from Principia College’s President’s Scholarship (now called the Palmer Scholarship). She also interned with a venture capital fund and in the Treasurer’s Office of The Mother Church, both of which gave her different perspectives into the world of finance.

Sally worked closely with her advisors and the Career Center to strengthen her résumé prior to applying for Deutsche Bank. She also connected with Principia alumni working in the wealth management and investment banking fields to gain advice.

Sally is joined by her Principia College Public Affairs Conference co-directors.

It was the extracurricular activities at Principia that really prepared Sally for understanding the responsibilities of the professional world. In addition to representing the student body as vice president, she was a director of the Public Affairs Conference, a member of the Strategic Planning Committee, and a reader for CSO.

“Those opportunities gave me a chance to actually apply the large-scale dynamic thinking that Principia is so good at teaching into real-life situations.”

During her senior year, Sally passed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level 1 exam with the support of her Business Administration professors—an accomplishment she credits, in part, to Principia’s designation as a CFA partner school.

Sally was also a resident assistant, house president, and a member of the track and field team.

Must-Take Course: Sugarbush Management

Favorite Principia Moment: There are too many amazing moments to choose just one, but the friends I made here are second to none.
